Dear PV-scientists,

Photovoltaics (PV) is becoming more and more the most important energy source for a clean and wide spread energy supply. Every country has now realized that PV is not only ecological but becoming extremely economical lading to levelised cost of electricity of around 5ct/kWh in average. In order to even come below this low number, bifaciality is one of the most promising technologies leading to bifacial gains in a PV system of sometimes more than 30%.

ISC Konstanz, INES, ZHAW and ECN organise the

4th bifiPV workshop in October 25/26 2017 in Konstanz, Germany.

The goal of this workshop is not only to review all existing technologies on the market but also to start to set standards and to identify the market potential.

We hope to see you at the workshop.

Your organisers –

Radovan Kopecek and Joris Libal (ISC Konstanz)

Ingrid Romijn and Bas van Aken (ECN); Hartmut Nussbaumer (ZHAW)

Marylin Joanny and Yannick Veschetti (INES)

Also in Konstanz, and right before this workshop, the metallization workshop will take place. For details see: metallizationworkshop.info

Chairmain’s Message

Radovan Kopecek, ISC Konstanz

Dear bifacial believer,

we would like to welcome you to the 4th edition of the bifiPV workshop. It seems now that bifaciality has his break though, as several hundreds of Mega Watts are installed until 2017- producing even 10-30% more power than the indicated nominal power.

A good example is "the HORMIGA PV plant" near San Felipe in Chile.

https://www.google.cl/maps/place/Planta+Fotovoltaica+La+Hormiga/@-32.7159311,-70.7224478,641m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x968814012f24b275:0xface738374eda88c!8m2!3d-32.7159311!4d-70.7202591

The installed nominal power of 2.5MWp is using about 9090 275Wp BiSoN modules. The ground is covered with white quartz, increasing the maximal system power to 3.3MWp. This is a 30% bifacial power increase. At the moment, due to soling on the front side of the modules, the bifacial power increase is even at around 40%- which is exceptional.

At the bifiPV workshop 2017 we will connect all the bifacial experts discussing about technology, standardization, qualification, measurements, simulations and bankability. Join the workshop and be a part of the bifiPV community.

See you in October in Konstanz,

Rado
